My Story

    Hello, I'm Sam. I have lived in and around Solihull for many years and currently live in Shirley with my partner Jodie and two children.

      After spending over 10 years in the construction industry and seeing first hand both the positive and negative sides of construction, I feel like now is the right time to introduce Hlb Home Improvements. There are many companies that offer similar services to Hlb however, I don't believe that they can all match the high-quality finish and level of service that we can.

      I started working at a local builders merchant many years ago, learning the fundamentals of the construction sector and the trade in building materials. After various accolades and promotions I wanted to learn more about the physical side of building.

     I laboured for a few years with a local Solihull - based builder where I gained knowledge of general building and developed a good understanding of the building process from start to finish. After improving my knowledge of the building trade and understanding how projects ran from conception to completion, I decided to take my next step in construction.

      In this instance, it was as a business manager for a Warwickshire based construction company. During my time there I was responsible for managing multiple projects at any one time, including procurement of all company materials and regular meetings with clients, architects and structural engineers'.

      I have vast experience within the construction industry ranging from: project management, managing teams, procurement and physically being involved within the construction trade. After many years of hearing about bad experiences from clients, friends and family and just how unreliable some builders can be in the construction industry. I wanted to do something about it. This is when I decided to start up an honest local building firm - Hlb home improvements.
